JOB TITLE: Development Coordinator - Individual Giving

GENERAL SUMMARY Anti-Cruelty is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Development Coordinator to join our dynamic fundraising team. This role is crucial in building, expanding and maintaining strong relationships with our donors, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our vital programs and services. You will be responsible for implementing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, ultimately increasing philanthropic support for our mission. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent communication, organizational, entrepreneurial, and interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to animals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Uphold the PETS Work Culture Agreement through Praise, Engagement, Trust, and Support.
- Oversee a portfolio of mid-tier annual giving donors and prospects ($250 - $4,999) through the donor cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and renewal process with an emphasis on donor engagement and growth;
- Meet with donors, give tours, and follow up to meet cultivation and stewardship goals;
- Implement a comprehensive, multi-channel cultivation and stewardship plan across all giving avenues, ensuring the highest level of donor stewardship;
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and execute donor engagements opportunities based on constituent interests;
- Acknowledge and thank donors promptly and effectively, including personalized thank you letters, phone calls and emails;
- Coordinate and execute donor benefits;
- Optimize Raiser's Edge and NXT to record and track relationship-building actions while maintaining the integrity of donor data;
- Collaborate with the marketing team to plan, design and create materials to support all fundraising efforts, including print, signage, email, and social media;
- Actively participate in annual planning to facilitate organizational growth and donor engagement;
- Assist in the development and implementation of annual fundraising campaigns and appeals;
- Provide support to event participants/attendees to foster a sense of community and connection;
- Provide timely and accurate fundraising reports and updates, and offer recommendations for donor moves management and communications;
- Respond to donor inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner;
- Support activities related to Anti-Cruelty's Young Associates, including attending meetings and events when necessary;
- Implement Giving Tuesday and Day of Giving plans to engage donors and inspire giving;
- Partner with team members in support of fundraising initiatives and strategies;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Use knowledge, experience, data, and good judgment to identify needs and recommend improvements for annual and mid-level giving programs;
- Interact externally with various potential donors to solicit, cultivate, and steward relationships;
- Must have experience or equivalent in inspiring donors, building personalized and compelling proposals, drive for making asks, and closing gifts that ignite donors' passions for the mission;
- Interact internally with colleagues as well as interdepartmentally with staff across AC as needed to collaborate on projects, gather information for collateral, gain staff support/approval, and meet deadlines;
- Initiates and engages in collegial, transparent strategy discussions to help advance AC's goals and priorities effectively and in a timely matter;
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences;
- Proficient with customer service and phone skills, comfortable responding to donor inquiries via phone and email;
- A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and ensuring the highest customer service;
- A compelling drive to present opportunities for making an impact to current and prospective donors with a passion for making the ask;
- Comfortable networking and interacting with corporate and individual donors;
- A positive attitude and interest in the work and mission of AC;
- A love of animals and a commitment to our mission.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., non-profit management, communications, marketing).
- A comparable combination of education, experience, or training commensurate to execute the duties and fulfill the goals of this role.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - Minimum 2 years of experience in non-profit fundraising or development.
- Proven track record of successful donor stewardship, cultivation, solicitation, and engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, and creative, innovative, out-of-the-box mindset.
- Proficiency in donor database management and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) and the Microsoft Suite.
- A self-starter willing to take initiative in a fast-paced office environment and lead projects independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and ethical standards.
- Passion for helping animals regardless of need.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Driver's License;
- Confident with phone communications and customer service;
- Ability to work in all weather conditions;
- Comfortable handling and working around shelter animals;
- Ability to work in an open-office environment.
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time;
- Ability to sit or stand 2+ hours at a time for donor and community engagement opportunities;
- Due to nature of shelter work, may be exposed to deceased, fractious, or aggressive animals; hostile or irate persons; zoonotic or other diseases; unpleasant noises, odors, or sights; and extreme temperatures.
- Available to work an extended schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays according to the demands of the role.
