Position Description: The Development Coordinator is part of the Development team and contributes significantly to CWHC's fundraising efforts. The DC is supervised by the Development Director and also works in close collaboration with the Communications and Volunteer Coordinator, Executive Director, Finance Manager, and Board of Directors.

Primary Responsibilities (38 hours per week)
  • Collaboratively prepare and review grant documents including letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports
  • Coordinate the research of grant prospects
  • Maintain organization of grant documents and deadlines
  • Support donor stewardship and cultivation through assisting with direct mail appeal processes, gift processing and acknowledgment, and being responsive to donor requests and questions
  • Ensure accurate fundraising data through donation processing and review, including maintenance of the donor database
  • Support accurate financial accounting and strong financial reporting through monthly financial reporting and quarterly review
  • Coordinate organization-wide evaluation of programs and support gathering, aggregating, and dissemination of program data
  • Serve as the primary support person for the Development internship
  • Serve as a support person for the Board of Directors, including regular attendance at meetings
  • Provide communications and special event support, as needed
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of organization's administrative systems as needed
Collective Involvement: 1-2 hours per week
  • Join ad-hoc committees as needed (based on interest and/or skill set or position)
  • Provide feedback in the interest of improving health center services and culture
  • Participate in annual budget assessment process
  • Attend, actively participate, and vote (when eligible) in Collective Meetings (4 meetings per year)
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in development and/or grant writing preferred (experience can be as intern or volunteer)
  • Previous experience in non-profit or office setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Demonstrated strength of communication and writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective time management, including the management and prioritization of multiple projects
Compensation and Benefits: This is a salaried position at $44,720 annually for 40 hours per week. In addition, CWHC offers generous paid time off and insurance benefits. The person in this position will be considered a full-time collective member of CWHC.

Position structure: This is a hybrid position that includes both remote and on-site time; candidates are expected to work on-site a minimum of two days a week. This is a Chicago-based position.
