The People's Theatre (TPT) seeks a full-time
Development Associate to help ensure sustainable growth and impact as the organization prepares and moves into its first permanent home-The People's Theatre: Centro Cultural Inmigrante. Reporting to the Development Director, this position will be primarily responsible for TPT's institutional development efforts (e.g., grant writing and reporting for foundation, government and corporate partners), and assist with donor management and fundraising events, while collaborating closely with the Development Director to meet fundraising goals.
This position is hybrid: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays are currently in-person at our office in Washington Heights. Occasional nights and weekends required.

Key Responsibilities Grant Writing & Management - Research, write, and manage grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and corporations.
- Manage grant project tracking, ensuring timely proposal submissions and reporting.
- Collaborate with program staff to compile data for funder reports.
Donor Management & Reporting - Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising data in Bloomerang (TPT's CRM).
- Generate regular reports on fundraising performance and donor engagement trends for check-ins with the Development Director and Executive Leadership.
- Assist with donor acknowledgements and ongoing stewardship
Event Planning & Coordination - Support planning and execution of fundraising events, including The People's Gala, Opening Nights, donor dinners, and community-based fundraisers
- Manage logistics, sponsorship solicitation, and invitations for events
Board & Development Committee Support - Assist in preparing materials for board meetings and the Development Committee, including taking meeting minutes
Communications & Development Marketing - Collaborate with the communications team to develop fundraising-related content (social media, website, newsletters, and campaign materials).
- Ensure that all donor-facing communications reflect TPT's mission and values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in the arts or humanities
- Experience with drafting compelling writing; strong storytelling and editing skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Creative collaborator
- Passion for arts and social justice, particularly in uplifting immigrant communities and communities of color.
- Preferred: Experience with individual donor engagement, fundraising events, and CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Neon, or similar).
