The Development Associate at YCS is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of annual and long-term fundraising strategies including planning and coordination of fundraising events, donor cultivation, and research funding opportunities and proposal writing, and maintenance of the donor database. This individual will assist with the development pipeline, strategic planning, heavy email and phone research, and other administrative duties as needed. This is an essential role for the Brand Strategy & Cultivation team, and we are looking for a strong communicator with high proficiency in technology and marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support donor cultivation, stewardship and acknowledgement for the Foundation, including administrative oversight for events and outreach activities by maintaining database of donors.
  • Review and refine data integration into GiveSmart CRM software, simplify the process to generate standard mailing lists major events and monthly giving reports.
  • Coordinate monthly with the Accounting Department to reconcile donation records with the agency's general ledger.
  • Take initiative in researching new sources of individual and corporate donors, as well as community partnerships. This includes maximizing the use of fundraising data and software to help identify leads and give potential.
  • Responsible for data entry, merge mailings, and donor acknowledgement letters using GiveSmart Events, Fundraising and CRM.
  • Support the development of online campaigns and websites.
  • Responsible for the creation of spreadsheets, tracking and record-keeping, and other administrative duties associated with Foundation events.
  • Prepare for and attend all Foundation and Agency events, including packing materials for day-of events, managing technology and supporting volunteers where needed.
  • Collaborate with Brand Strategy and Communications for various projects that require market research, design branding, signage, printing, and community outreach.
  • Utilize Oracle Finance and Accounting system for purchasing and reporting.
  • General administrative support including phone and front desk coverage; processing mail, donations, purchase orders & petty cash.
  • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to researching and supporting grant preparation and submission; assisting with meetings and activities of the President/CEO and Trustees as needed. There may be other supportive duties not listed may be requested by the Chief Strategy Officer, VP of Brand Strategy & Wellness, and Director of Development.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Personable and outgoing, relating well to donors, Trustees and senior management.
  • Detail oriented, able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Database management experience required.
  • Background in marketing, event planning and coordination.
  • Proven organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and interpersonal interactions in order to maintain and grow donor relationships.
  • Financial management (Excel, training provided for GiveSmart & Oracle)
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years' experience in fundraising, development or marketing related field. Five years of progressively more responsible administrative positions in development or marketing can be substituted for a college degree.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States and agree to submit to a check of criminal background, the central registry, the child abuse registry, drug testing, and physical as applicable. Must be willing to submit to these requirements annually where applicable
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to provide essential physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, pulling, bending, and pushing
  • Some travel may be necessary
