Position Summary: The Development Assistant supports Development operations and administration to advance the strategic goals and objectives of the department, which has a fundraising goal of $16M+ in 2025, growing to $18M by 2027. Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Development and working closely with the Development Coordinator, the Development Assistant supports administration of the organization's primary constituent database (Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack), processes and acknowledges gifts, maintains accurate donor information, supports with reporting, and performs additional general database functions. In addition, the role also offers support with Development-led events, donor communications/stewardship, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities: Database - Enter gift data including from large batches of gifts, pulling reports from third-party processors, collating and formatting reports.
- Input accurate donor records and information, and assist with general database clean-up projects.
- Input bequests and other planned gifts, data for third-party fundraisers, and other non-cash donor data.
- Assist with Development reporting as needed.
- Help manage gift processing, including processing cancellations, temporary contacts, EFTs, checks, and stock gifts, conducting gift audits, alias review, and completing processes for matching gift approvals as needed.
- Collaborate withDevelopment, Finance, and other departments to ensure gift entry is accurate, making adjustments where applicable, and providing support for financial reconciliation as needed.
Events - Support special events for Development (virtual or in person), including evening and weekendevents, as required.
- Specific examples include support for Development team with functions such as text-to-give campaigns, crowdfunding/peer-to-peer campaigns, ticketing/registration, and sponsorship tracking.
Donor Communications - Generate timely and accurate hard-copy and email-merged acknowledgements, including workflow automations for email acknowledgements, following existing processes or implementing new processes as needed.
- Provide accurate donor information for communication and receipting, including updating receipt templates and automations as needed.
Working with department/TLC - Train other Development staff, temps, and contractors, as needed on Salesforce and the Development data ecosystem, including but not limited to: Click & Pledge, GiveSmart, and other platforms.
- Help build an effective team within department and organization: support and assist other members of the department, and actively participate in department and staff retreats, caucuses, trainings, and other learning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Professional skills and experience - 2-4 years of work experience, non-profit fundraising experience preferred.
- Familiarity with fundraising or CRM database software, Salesforce preferred.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn relevant technology, including: supplemental database software (Click & Pledge and EveryAction); and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
- Ability to work at the computer and accurately enter data for extended periods of time.
- The ability to maintain accountability and to work independently to meet deadlines and manage priorities, while functioning as part of a cooperative and coordinated team.
- Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail and high degree of discretion dealing with confidential and sensitive information with integrity. Knowledge of general office and accounting practices preferred.
- Experience working with the transgender communities preferred. Demonstrated commitment to a broad range of social, racial, and economic justice issues.
