Organization Overview: Through media arts education, Wide Angle Youth Media (Wide Angle) cultivates and amplifies the voices of Baltimore youth to engage audiences across generational, cultural, and social divides. Wide Angle programs inspire creativity and instill confidence in young people, empowering them with skills to navigate school, career, and life.
Wide Angle is looking for a part-time Development Assistant to be a key contributor to our Development and Communications Department. The successful candidate will provide support in the areas of grant writing and reporting, donor management, communications, and events.
The job is multi-faceted and each day is varied, with tasks designed to support key development and fundraising goals as the organization grows and prepares to launch programs in a new headquarters. This is a great opportunity to apply skills in writing, database management, event planning, and donor relations.
This part-time, non-exempt position starts with an hourly range of $20.21 - $26.27 and Paid Time Off (PTO) after your first 90 days of employment. After earning $5,000, eligibility for Wide Angle's retirement plan in which we contribute up to a 3% match. 20 Hours of Professional Development annually, Mileage/Parking Reimbursement, and access to the Relief Fund.
Responsibilities Donors & Database Management
- Maintain database, verify and update donor contact information (Network for Good);
- Process pledges and contributions (write acknowledgment letters, send thank you videos, and other donor materials) for gifts under $150;
- Support donor email listserv management and generate lists for email blasts;
- Assist with 3-5 direct mail campaigns annually (writing, organizing and mailing);
- Write social media campaign content as needed.
Grants
- Support prospect research for new grant opportunities;
- Assist with writing and submitting grant applications, processing grants received, pulling data for reports, and drafting reports for grants in the organization's portfolio;
- Compile data to track youth demographic information and outcomes for grant reporting, in partnership with the Programs team and Grants Manager.
Events
- Provide significant support for 25th Birthday Celebrations, including donor engagement, sponsorship solicitation, auction oversight, and other tasks as necessary.
- Assist with coordinating donor/community events (planning, marketing, logistics, etc., such as screenings and community days);
- Support and attend other organization signature events;
- Represent organization at community events as needed.
Communications
- Specific emails and outreach to donors, as needed;
- Generate lists for physical mailings;
- Support with Impact Report development and mailing.
Other duties as assigned.
This role will be a key team member, by supporting the Development and Communications department's annual goals. At the end of your first year, success would mean helping the department to increase donor retention by 5%, expand individual giving annual contributions by 10%, a doubled number of sustained giving donors, and expansion of the grants revenue to meet FY25 budget needs.

Requirements
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the fundraising field.
- Ability to write clearly and succinctly for different purposes and platforms; excellent verbal communication.
- Proven ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines.
- Comfort and ability to perform tasks remotely or in person.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team, and problem solve.
- Passionate about youth development and/or creative media arts.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends; some local travel is required.
- Must be able to pass state and federal background checks.
Preferred Qualifications - Donor database experience - knowledge of fundraising and donor gift processing preferred.
- Degree in English, communications, marketing, or related fields is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Advanced Word and Excel skills preferred.
- Previous experience writing grant proposals.
