2025 DEVCOM ARL Summer Student Experience: Machine Learning to Characterize Fuel Pump Damage with Vibrational Data

Recruitment began on November 14, 2024, and the job listing expires on May 14, 2025.

This internship explores general business and beyond.

This project will utilize machine learning algorithms to characterize the damage state of fuel pumps from vibration data. High-frequency acoustic sensors can detect vibrations from damaged components. These vibration signals can act as a 'fingerprint' to help identify the damage state of the fuel pumps; however, interpretation of the signals is challenging due to their complexity. The student will employ machine learning and other advanced algorithms to reliably analyze vibration data.
