JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: DESM Grocery Clerk
Department: Dancing Eagle Supermarket
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary/General Description:
A Grocery Clerk operates a cash register, scans groceries, process payments, stocks and rotates merchandise
and produce in a clean and orderly manner while providing exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Operate a point of sale system/cash register (e.g., maintain change in cash drawer; accept cash,
checks, and bankcards for payment; calculate discounts; ensure proper identification for certain
transactions; count money; return correct change; issue receipts; balance cash drawer and receipts;
keep register area neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies; and documents discrepancies).
• Stock merchandise and ensure merchandise is displayed in a clean and orderly manner.
• Ensure produce is stocked and rotated, displayed in an orderly manner, and that produce displayed
is fresh.
• Assist in store clean-up.
• Promote brands/products to increase sales.
• Provide fast, friendly and courteous customer service to customers and coworkers.
• Assist customers in locating items.
• Perform duties in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Work different shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Assist with training new Grocery Clerks.
• All other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
• Relevant work experience preferred.
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Cashiering and custodial experience preferred.
Licensing & Certification:
• Obtain and maintain Serv-Safe Certification.

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:
• Proficient using a cash register.
• Proficient in basic computer skills.
Essential Physical Requirements:
• The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, kneel, reach overhead,
stand, talk, turn/twist, walk, and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
• The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, slide/transfer 1-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time.
Essential Mental Demands:
• The job requires the ability to organize, plan, make decisions, read and write 51-100% of the time.

• None
Work Environment (inside/outside):
• The job is performed indoors with some exposure to cold temperatures.
Other Requirements:
• Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening and background check.
