What You'll Be Doing as a Desktop Support Specialist: Provides 1st and 2nd level technical support to all technology users across the business as it relates to computer hardware/software, account administration and equipment procurement. Places customer service front and center creating pleasant support experience for users.
- Serves as primary contact for desktop support for all employees.
- Responds to user problems, determines appropriate response, and resolves issues.
- Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations and peripherals.
- Utilizes remote support tools and JIRA ticketing systems
- Leverages knowledge of network protocols for troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS)
- Maintains and administers accurate records and files related to work performed; maintains inventory records and documents equipment installations and configurations.
- Maintains user access, including adding and removing users, as well as modifying their configurations, security rights and access rights.
- Participates in the implementation of IT and infrastructure projects.
- Answers questions and communicates technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Conducts training on common and specialized applications.
- Evaluates changes in desktop technology and makes recommendations regarding software and hardware solutions, including acquisitions and upgrades.
- Adheres to company and department policies and best practices.
- Incorporating the company's values in all deliverables.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience You'll Need as a as a Desktop Support Specialist: - Associates degree plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Desktop Support role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Two years customer service-related experience requiring interpersonal communications and public relations skills.
- Experience with mobile device support (smartphones, tablets)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft operating systems and Office applications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Mac operating systems in a business environment.
- Ability to diagnose PC hardware, software, and operator problems of moderate complexity.
- Ability to pro-actively investigate problems and determine appropriate course of action.
- ITIL 4 Foundation, CompTIA A+ certification (preferred) or acquire the certification within six months of being hired.
Work Environment for a Desktop Support Specialist: Work is normally performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly sitting, and standing for long periods of time, repeatedly required to talk or hear, reach with hands and arms, and use wrists and fingers. Frequent keyboarding. Lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the need to adjust focus. May include exposure to manufacturing environment including noise, chemicals, lubricants, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.
