Overview The Desktop Administrator is responsible for maintaining and enhancing Windows and Linux desktop environments, ensuring their reliability and security using cutting-edge NIST standards. This role tackles challenges in vulnerability management, disaster recovery testing, and VMware administration, all while contributing to a seamless and secure user experience for our employees. This is a full-time position with schedule flexibility to allow for tasks after business hours.
Responsibilities- Desktop Administration
• Responsible for assuring the maintenance, configuration, testing, and security updates for Windows and Linux based desktops both physical and virtual. Will be expected to design hardened configurations based on current NIST standards and to maintain them as vulnerabilities are discovered and standards are updated. - Vulnerability Management
• Monitor for vulnerability and risks within all workstations, notebooks, and desktops and make recommendations for patching and remediation. - Disaster Recovery Testing
• Perform periodic tests of all critical desktop failover, backup, and recovery procedures. Document all tests, successes and failures, as well as remediation plans for any failures that occur. - Backup and Recovery
• Confirm the success of nightly profile backups and snapshots necessary for maintaining the desktop environment. - VMware Administration
• Responsible for maintaining configurations and templates for the Horizon Desktop environment including the creation of new pools as required. - Procedure Manual updates
• Update the Information Technology Procedure Manual when procedures change and create new procedures for new processes and systems. - All other duties assigned
Qualifications- Associate's degree in information technology, a similar field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Omnissa Horizon Desktops and vSphere.
- Proven experience maintaining and configuring group policy objects for desktop delivery.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent experience.
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, or equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Omnissa Horizon Desktop, including knowledge of vCenter Server.
- Experience in deploying, configuring, and maintaining Omnissa Horizon View templates and Windows Desktop deployments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and/or Bash for automation tasks.
