A Global Manufacturing company is seeking a Design Project Manager to help lead the design of complex, high-performance specialty enclosures for advanced testing environments. This role bridges engineering design and project execution-ideal for someone who enjoys a technical challenge and thrives in collaborative, cross-functional settings.

About the Role

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and realization of highly specialized building systems. The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical knowledge, creative problem-solving, and a strong foundation in commercial building systems-particularly structural elements, MEP coordination, and systems integration.

You'll work closely with internal teams across engineering, sales, and operations, as well as external partners including design consultants and construction managers, to bring sophisticated projects to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full building systems design cycle-from conceptual layout through to construction documentation
  • Apply 3D modeling tools (such as Revit or other CAD platforms) to develop structural and MEP layouts
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to produce permit-ready documentation
  • Contribute to system design decisions including electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and communications
  • Perform structural evaluations and contribute to code-compliant, constructible solutions
  • Support internal planning through estimating, scheduling, and documentation review
  • Collaborate with quality and safety teams to ensure project alignment with industry standards
  • Engage with cross-functional teams and contribute to design discussions and solution development

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Proven background in building systems design and coordination within commercial or industrial environments
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes (IBC, NEC, NFPA 101, mechanical/plumbing codes, etc.)
  • Experience with Revit or similar BIM/CAD software
  • Strong organizational and project coordination capabilities
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and construction documentation
  • Ability to communicate clearly across disciplines and build strong working relationships
  • Exposure to permitting processes and optimization of systems for constructability
  • Professional certifications (EIT, PE, general contractor license, etc.) are a plus
  • Solid foundation in software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Ability to manage tasks in a team-oriented environment and contribute to group success

Education

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • Advanced education or certification in engineering, building construction, or business is a plus
