Essential Functions:
• Lead and manage a design engineering team, including hiring, training and mentoring. A culture of working as a team and a high sense of urgency is critical to success.
• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept and design through prototyping, testing and launch.
• Develop and implement design strategies and processes to ensure product quality, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
• Nurture our current product development process with a continuous improvement mindset
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, customer service and sales, to ensure smooth product development and successful launches.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
• Conduct and oversee product testing and validation to ensure compliance with safety standards and performance requirements.
• Oversee engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and performance.
Qualifications:
• Must have a versatile engineering background, to be effective at managing various engineering disciplines.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in product design
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role
• Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
• Strong technical expertise in areas such as:
o Fluid dynamics
o Plastics and composite materials
o Manufacturing processes such as injection molding, thermoforming, etc.
o SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software a plus
