As a Technical Designer, you don t just draw what s been decided .
You re the one who helps decide it.
You specify the product, you model it in SolidWorks, and you figure out how all the pieces come together.
This isn t just design for design s sake, its design that has to work in the real world.
This Technical Designer role is about turning a concept into something that can actually be made, something that works for the factory, for the customer and for the business.
You ll be liaising with production teams early on to make sure your ideas are viable.
You ll be updating the customer throughout, so nothing goes off course.
You ll be the one following the process, spotting the gaps and getting ahead of them.
You ll need to be confident creating full 3D models, detailing how components will be assembled and manufactured.
You know as a Technical Designer that it s not about ticking boxes or recycling old designs:
- You ll be solving problems.
- You ll be thinking practically.
- And you ll be making decisions that carry weight.
As Technical Designer, you ll also need to communicate clearly and ask the right questions when something s unclear, you ll clarify it when something won t work, you ll say so. Because this role only works if you take ownership.
If you ve worked in a similar engineering or manufacturing environment before and you re confident in your SolidWorks experience, this could be a brilliant next move.
