Job Summary: The Metal Building Design Engineer is responsible for the structural design, analysis, and optimization of pre-engineered metal buildings to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal manufacturing constraints. This role works closely with drafting, project management, manufacturing, and sales teams to deliver cost-effective, structurally sound building solutions that align with company objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Structural Design & Analysis:


• Perform structural analysis and design of metal building frames, secondary framing, and connections using industry-standard software (e.g., MBS, AutoCAD, SkyCiv, etc.).


• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI, MBMA) and project-specific requirements.


• Evaluate and design modifications for existing structures when necessary.

Technical Collaboration & Support:


• Work closely with drafting and detailing teams to ensure accurate representation of engineering intent in shop drawings and erection plans.


• Provide guidance to project managers, sales, and customer service teams on technical feasibility and design constraints.


• Support field service teams with structural clarifications and issue resolution during construction.


• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes for engineering-related errors.


• Stay up to date with advancements in metal building design, materials, and construction methods.

Work Environment & Expectations:


• Remote, Hybrid, or on-site position.


• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

Required:


• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.


• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.


• 3 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB).


• Proficiency in structural analysis software and metal building design tools.


• Strong understanding of steel design, load paths, and connection detailing.


• Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, MBMA, AISI).
