Job Description Roles and Responsibilities: Individual contributors with specialized knowledge and skills within a technical discipline. May direct the work of other lower-level professionals in the context of a project, process, or program. The majority of time is spent overseeing technical design, implementation, or delivery of projects, processes, or programs using technical skills acquired through advanced education or equivalent work experience. This job family is responsible for the engineering and technical operations of the organization and managing or performing research and development. Activities include undertaking research, design, and development activities to improve the organization's products and services; designing, constructing, testing, and operating equipment; ensuring that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met in production processes; interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications; developing and testing theories on the properties of materials and ingredients under various conditions; and scientific research or quality testing in a laboratory environment. Positions in this sub-family design product components or portions of a functional system as part of a broader engineering solution. Activities include: creating layouts and detailing mechanisms, structures, and parts for a major/more complex product component, portion of a functional system/manufacturing operation, or technically advanced prototype; researching ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, strength-weight efficiency, etc. And preparing cost studies for assigned components; using Computer-Aided-Design/Engineering (CAD/CAE) software during the conceptual design process; identifying design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommending revisions and/or improvements in design layout to engineers or designers. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
