Role Overview

Leading a team, identifying ways to keep them focused and on track, you'll need to act independently and think on your feet, finding solutions and calling upon your previous experience to make sound management decisions.

You'll have full autonomy in the role to build and develop your team, search for and implement efficiencies, and develop better ways of working to further improve our overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate a fleet of 7 vehicles (3.5t maxi vans) and ensure compliance with all aspects of transport legislation, including EU and UK domestic rules.
  2. Advise and train staff on safe and proper operating procedures, relevant checks, etc.
  3. Maintain accurate staff and vehicle records.
  4. Assess and support warehouse operations.
  5. Ensure fleet and driver records are compliant with all DVSA requirements.
  6. Manage people, including performance reviews, staff development, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  7. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
Previous Experience
  • Transport/logistics management experience.
  • Ability to work accurately with good attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and proven team management ability.
  • Experience in warehouse or distribution environments.
  • Ability to cope in challenging situations.
  • IT literacy, including knowledge of WMS systems.
  • Ability to report on operational performance.
  • Responsibility for P&L.
  • Ability to manage workload and priorities amid change.
  • Knowledge of H&S, HR legislation, and good practices.
  • Management CPC / OLAT qualification is desirable but not essential.
Additional Information

This role is based in our small Inverness Depot and is for 40 hours per week, scheduled Monday to Friday (no weekends) between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.
