The High-Speed Internet GIS and Data Analyst serves as a recognized resource tasked with high-speed internet and digital equity-related mapping coordination, data collection, data analysis and geospatial data collection. The High-Speed Internet GIS and Data Analyst's work in this regard relates to federal funds allocated to the State for broadband and digital equity work. The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute to the plan, design, implementation, and maintenance of mapping programs and related data and applications as state resources within the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office (MIHI). This position will work closely with contractors, partners, and colleagues to coordinate broadband and digital equity related data collection activities and develop new state broadband and digital equity map layers. This position will provide technical support for the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office, other state agencies, and external stakeholders as needed. This position will work with broadband mapping staff, contractors, and intern(s) to handle maintenance, updates and troubleshooting of broadband maps, dashboards, websites and data collection. This position will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large data sets related to broadband access, affordability, and adoption in the state.

There is a possibility of a remote/hybrid schedule based on performance and operational need. However, all work must be performed in Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position.

Position Description

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field including, but not limited to, geographic information systems, geography, urban and regional planning, geology, or a related field with an emphasis on geospatial data and analytics is preferred.

Experience

Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service. Preference would be at least three years of experience in geospatial data analysis, data research and analysis, or other relevant work experience.

Salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election.
