Second Shift Department Supervisor working in finishing packing and die cutting. Managing staff, including temporary personnel and working alongside the shift supervisor. This role would be ideal for someone who has been a lead and is ready for the next step.


Function of job includes:


  • Schedules and executes daily work assignments in accordance with worker performance, machine capacity and schedules in order to meet daily production targets/goals
  • Supervises employees in any of the following areas: Printing, Paper Processing/Cutting, Laminating; Die cutting; Card Conversion; Folding Box operation, Final Assembly, and/or Injection Molding
  • Fosters a safe work environment
  • Supports and coordinates the execution of organizational strategies, innovative work practices, training and development of our work force


Primary Responsibilities/ Duties:


Achieve Operational/Financial Performance 70% of the time.

  • Ensures daily production targets/goals are met. Lead Department monthly safety meetings.
  • Collaborates with General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor and/or Manager as well as cross-functionally with other Cost Centers on quality concerns; identifies and implements corrective actions
  • Inputs daily production data onto report, accounting for personnel and hours and production counts.
  • Interacts with assigned Union employees effectively addressing all issues fairly and consistently.
  • Hold people accountable for performance: work with Supervisor, Technical Supervisor and/or Manager to determine whether a performance improvement plan and/or corrective action are required.
  • Performs duties such as workplace injury investigations and other tasks as assigned.

Build Relationships/Manage People 20% of the time

  • Coaches/mentors Union employees; Encourages team involvement, collaborates with Supervisor, technical Supervisor and/or Manager on document follow-up, and implements corrective actions and or counter measures as necessary.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with Union membership to promote high level of performance, engagement and commitment.
  • Provides new hire orientation and training for all employees
  • Relates to others in an accepting and respectful manner
  • Acts consistently with Company policies and practices

Strategy/Innovation 10% of the time

  • Collaborates with Supervisor, Technical Supervisor and/or Manager to implement effective and innovative strategies, equipment, methods to enhance quality, cost reductions and overall safety.
  • Collaborates with Supervisor, Technical Supervisor and/or Manager in leveraging continuous improvement methodology, executing action plans designed to optimize operational performance and meet KPI's, SGD objectives and financial targets

Experience required:

  • 2+ Yrs. Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experienced with safety, quality, 5S, ISO, Lean, production targets, controlling production costs.

Knowledge & Skills required:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all organizational levels
