Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism City of Hope National

The Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (DEM) at City of Hope National Medical Center provides care and conducts research on a variety of diabetes and endocrine disorders, including but not limited to: diabetes, obesity, thyroid cancer, endocrine tumors, metabolic bone diseases, reproductive disorders, and management of endocrine complications that can result from cancer treatment.

Join our rapidly expanding, nationally recognized cancer institute as we seek to hire an early-career endocrinologist and an experienced investigator for the open Clinical Endocrinologist (Assistant - Associate Professor level) or Physician Scientist (Associate - Full Professor level) positions. City of Hope has a long and impressive history of groundbreaking discoveries in the field of diabetes. The Department of DEM manages approximately 4,500 individual patients annually including 7,500 outpatient visits and 6,500 inpatient visits. The Department has eleven faculty and hosts an ACGME-accredited endocrine subspecialty training program. The Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute (DMRI) at City of Hope has 65 faculty members to advance basic and translational research in diabetes and metabolism.

Clinical Endocrinologist

Position Attributes:

  • A mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
  • This is a clinical position at Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor rank
  • The physician can participate in the programmatic activities which will support the Medical Center's mission of quality patient care, education, and clinical research
  • We treat patients with diabetes, general endocrinology, and cancer-related metabolic disorders.
  • Base salary range: $238k - $270k+ (Assistant Clinical to Clinical Professor levels). The range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.

Qualifications:

  • Early to mid-career candidates
  • Board Certification (or eligibility) in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Active or eligible for California medical license

Physician Scientist

Position Attributes:

  • Effort allocation: 20-40% clinical / 60-80% research.
  • The selected faculty will be offered highly competitive start-up resources and laboratory space o The research space will be located in the DMRI and will have access to the shared facilities and cores at the medical center and the Beckman Research Institute
  • Base Salary: $270k - $300k+ (Associate or Full Professor levels).The salary range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.

Qualifications:

  • Track records of background as physician scientist in the basic science, translational science, or clinical research in diabetes/endocrinology
  • Experience working in academic institutions that combines research and patient care.
  • Associate or Full Professor rank
  • Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree, fellowship trained, and Board Certification (or eligibility) in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
  • Active or eligible for California medical license
