MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 25 years of age per vehicle use policy. High School Diploma (or certified equivalent). Successful completion of a CODA accredited program of Dental Therapy is required. Oregon Dental Therapist license is required. CPR certification is required on or within 90 days of hire. Valid Driver's License, adequate transportation, and eligibility to operate GSA vehicles is required. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff. Must possess reasonable ability to communicate in English. This is a Safety Sensitive Position as defined in the Alcohol & Drug Policy. This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing. This is a covered position which requires background check that includes fingerprinting. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S. Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process. SUMMARY Provide clinical dental services within the specifications of Oregon dental regulations and a collaborative practice agreement under the supervision of a dentist and within the priorities of the Three Rivers Health Center (TRHC) Dental Program. Assist in dental outreach, prevention and education efforts at the TRHC Dental Clinics and in the Oregon 5-county service delivery area (Coos, Curry, Douglas, Lane and Lincoln counties). Work as a member of an interdisciplinary dental treatment team. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide dental treatment and prevention services, under the general supervision of a dentist. Recognition of various signs of gum diseases and dental problems. Provide education to patients on the condition of their mouths and options for improving and maintaining their oral health. Organize treatment time efficiently for each patient and work cooperatively with all members of the dental team. Work with the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in planning, implementing and evaluating various aspects of clinical services, including dental disease prevention programs and activities. Provide services to all ages of patients. Provide outreach services to schools and communities in the 5-county service delivery area (Coos, Curry, Douglas, Lane and Lincoln counties in Oregon). Attend Tribal and community events to promote oral health and disease prevention. Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCLUSI and TRHC policies. Must be able to interact with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner. Provide excellent customer service to clients and vendors of the TRHC Dental Clinics. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Maintain a good attendance record. Other duties as directed by management. PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds. Must be willing and able to work long hours, which may include evenings and weekends. Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area. WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions. May be required to work in locations other than the Dental Clinic, such as in a mobile dental clinic or at an outreach work location.
