Job Summary
Provides didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction for dental hygiene students preparing to be licensed professionals. We offer an evidence-based educational foundation connecting theory and practice. We are seeking a dental hygiene educator who can translate their background, education, and experience into an engaging learning environment in both the classroom and lab/clinical setting. The incumbent will be working a 9-month contract.

Utilizes expertise to provide instruction to students in assigned dental hygiene courses and develops related instructional materials (such as syllabi, lectures, course materials, evaluation tools, classroom activities, and others).Teaches courses in the approved curriculum using teaching methods that support the success of all students.Continually develops expertise in the field and in teaching through professional development.Participates regularly in department meetings and in department responsibilities such as budgets, schedules, articulation agreements, program reviews, program assessment, curricula development, external partnerships, and staffing.Contributes to program accreditation tasks.Participates in accreditation processes as well as college, division, and department committees and meetings. Participates in college-wide accreditation tasks. Participates in statewide, college-level, and program-level planning and curriculum developmentEnsures dental hygiene course, program, and institutional assessments and reviews are completed and submitted by appropriate deadlines.Participates in dental hygiene advisory committees.Serves as a student advisor for dental hygiene students. Participates in recruiting activities for the program.Monitors patient care to ensure that patients receive safe and appropriate care.Evaluates student performance using varied evaluation methods and maintains accurate and confidential student records. Monitors student, patient and instructor compliance with clinical policies and procedures.Assists with orientation, calibration, and supervision of part-time clinical instructors.Develops and maintains good relationships with community stakeholders and other dental hygiene program faculty statewide.Maintains consistent office hours.Keeps faculty file complete including license renewals, vaccination records, certifications, and continuing education requirements.Manages Dental Hygiene Clinic operations, as assigned, which may include opening and closing responsibilities, inventory, replenishing supplies, managing equipment maintenance/repairs, and enforcing safety procedures for students and patients in the clinic.Attends in-service meetings, Assessment Tuesday, and faculty meetings each semester.Attends graduation ceremonies.Participates on campus committees as needed.Works collaboratively with other dental programs to coordinate course schedules, clinical schedules, and equipment needs.Maintains collegiality with others in the department, division, and college.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
A Master's Degree from an accredited institutionGraduate of a Dental Hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)Active Dental Hygiene License3-5 years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist1-3 years teaching experience (in dental or dental hygiene education)Experience with dental softwareEvidence of active and continuous professional developmentActive membership in professional dental hygiene association/sIncumbent must reside in the State of Idaho (Currently CEI does not sponsor H-1B Visas)Additional Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in Dental Hygiene (or closely related field)More than 3 years teaching experience in dental hygiene education programsDemonstrated leadership experienceExperience in community or public health and/or teledentistryProject management experience with priorities and deadlinesDemonstrated experience/participation in CODA accreditation processes and site visitsExperience with original research, publications, presentations, and/or grantsmanshipA Doctoral degree (preferably in a health related discipline)Bilingual (Spanish)Physical Demands and Work Environment:Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand and often uses repetitive hand motions.
Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
