Title: Demand & Production Planner

FLSA Classification: Exempt, Date: 12/2024, Salary: $65,000- $75,000 + bonus
Job Summary:
The Demand & Production Manager - is a critical role within the Operations team, responsible for overseeing procurement, inventory demand planning and production planning. This role ensures that finished goods (both blanks and customized products) and raw materials are sourced efficiently, production timelines are met, and costs are optimized. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in apparel manufacturing, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role includes direct supervisory responsibilities, overseeing and guiding the performance of team members within the assigned department.
Key Responsibilities
Global Procurement and Inventory Demand Planning:
- Source and negotiate with global suppliers to ensure optimal pricing, quality, and timely delivery of fabrics, trims, and finished goods.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process efficiencies.
- Create and manage purchase orders based on seasonal buy plans and replenishment schedules.
- Monitor purchase orders, track shipments, and proactively resolve supply chain disruptions.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to align sourcing strategies with product requirements and business timelines.
- Partner with logistics providers to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery and distribution of products.
- Work closely with the warehouse inventory team to ensure inbound shipment accuracy and support cycle/physical counts.
- Provide regular procurement reports and insights to key stakeholders.
Production Planning (domestic and overseas):
- Source and negotiate with vendors for printing, embroidery, heat transfer, and embellishment services.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and drive operational efficiencies.
- Develop production forecasts based on customer demand and vendor capacity.
- Utilize NetSuite for order commits, vendor allocation, and order wave generation, ensuring alignment with business priorities and vendor capabilities.
- Work closely with the operations and accounting teams to manage order priorities and ensure system accuracy.
- Partner with IT consultants to troubleshoot ERP-related issues and implement system optimizations.
- Coordinate with logistics providers for timely and cost-effective distribution of blanks and finished goods.
- Conduct weekly meetings with warehouses and external vendors to track open orders, resolve issues, and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Provide weekly reports on open order status, production timelines, and inventory metrics.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years in procurement, inventory demand planning and production planning, or supply chain management, preferably in custom apparel or wholesale manufacturing.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with demand forecasting tools and inventory management software.
