The Database and IT Manager is responsible for the overall administration, support, and optimization of the organization's CRM and Database platforms and for managing core IT functions. This role is critical in ensuring high data integrity, improving technical workflows across departments, and supporting staff with the tech tools they need to succeed.

The ideal candidate brings Salesforce expertise, a proactive approach to systems management, and a passion for using technology to drive mission-based work. Please note that the preferred location for this position is within commuting distance of Golden, Colorado. Other locations may be considered.

As the Database & IT Manager, your responsibilities include:
  • CRM Administration
    • Serve as the primary administrator for the organization's database platforms, including user account management, permissions, data quality, and security. Primary systems currently include Salesforce, Hubspot, Submittable, Heroku, and Cloudbeds.
    • Customize Salesforce and other platforms to meet evolving organizational needs, including new fields, page layouts, automations, and dashboards.
    • Integrate Salesforce with other platform solutions, including third-party platforms (e.g., donation processors, email marketing tools, event systems).
    • Train staff on system usage and develop documentation for internal processes and best practices.
    • Create reports and analytics to support development, communications, program, and leadership teams.
  • Database Management
    • Maintain data integrity across all systems and ensure consistent data entry, tagging, and segmentation practices.
    • Perform regular data audits and clean-up to support accuracy in donor records, campaigns, and engagement tracking.
    • Develop and document data workflows and protocols for cross-team use.
  • IT Systems Administration & Support
    • Oversee basic IT systems, including software licenses, Google Suite, AWS storage, general security, and tech support.
    • Develop, maintain, and scale IT infrastructure and documentation appropriately. Troubleshoot problems as they arise and provide prompt technological solutions.
    • Manage onboarding/offboarding of staff regarding IT access and systems.
    • Ensure cybersecurity best practices are implemented and regularly reviewed.
    • Coordinate with third-party IT vendors or consultants for complex support needs.
  • Technology Support & Implementation
    • Maintain AAC device management records and establish and track timelines for hardware replacement for employees. Support the VP of Operations in budget and use planning of software and hardware.
    • Identify opportunities for system improvements, automation, or integration that enhance staff efficiency and data accessibility.
    • Collaborate with leadership to support strategic decision-making through technology planning and reporting.
    • Stay current with Salesforce and other platform updates, nonprofit tech trends, and tools that could benefit the organization.
An exceptional fit will have:
  • Passion for the mission of the American Alpine Club and commitment to our values and vision.
  • 2+ years of experience in Salesforce administration, preferably in a nonprofit or similar mission-driven environment.
  • A strong understanding of nonprofit data workflows, including donor management, membership, fundraising, and events.
  • A track record of working cross-functionally to support teams, alongside an ability to communicate technical topics clearly to non-technical staff.
  • Keen analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems as they arise.
  • Fluency with regular IT systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Heroku, Wordpress).
  • Preferred:
    • Salesforce Administrator certification.
    • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
    • Experience with Salesforce integrations (e.g., Hubspot, Cloudbeds, Givesmart, Quorum, Zapier, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
    • Experience with data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Salesforce Reports/Dashboards, Tableau, Power BI).
    • Scripting knowledge (e.g., Apex, JavaScript, or SQL).
    • Experience with other platforms such as Hubspot, Submittable, Emburse, Netsuite, Heroku, Wordpress, etc.
    • Experience with single sign-on services.

Desk work - Typical office work on a computer utilizing GSuites, Slack, Zoom, and other computer-based programs.

Travel and physical - This position may require limited travel, both by car and plane. Physical work is occasionally required to support programmatic efforts - inventory management of company hardware, event tech support, office tech support, etc.
