Database Engineer in the

Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance
Workplace Type: Hybrid/Remote. This position is fully remote with occasional onsite meetings. Please be aware that the workplace type allowed is approved by the client and is subject to change dependent on client needs and expectations.
Compensation: Kaiva Tech is looking for a talented
Database Engineer to join the team full-time. This position pays
$140,000 - $155,000, salary dependent on qualifications.
Please note that the salary range for this role considers a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions to include and not limited to experience, skill sets, training, certifications, and other organizational needs.
Summary Overview: The Database Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, updating, and maintaining a database system for PPT/AO's Quality Assurance Program. Current system is run through MS Access and PPT/AO would like to migrate the program to Azure SQL Server. This role involves working closely with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support the office's data management needs.

Database Engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Developing new user interface on a different platform that is not Microsoft Access
- Creating and maintaining database objects such as tables, view, indexes, and stored procedures for the user interface/database
- Completing a limited review of the current Quality Assurance Program to better understand the current environment
- Reviewing Business requirements for an efficient and secure QAP
- Analyzing systems continuity solution and providing steps to back up the central database
- Recovering data from current Microsoft Access databases
- Working with software development teams to integrate databases with applications
- Setting up an SQL database to include data tables and functions allowing for the system to meet the requirements of the QAP application
- Confirming stability of system and perform analysis on recommended improvements
- Transitioning data from the current Microsoft Access database structure to the SQL database structure
- Configuring tiered user groups (e.g., administrators, managers, supervisors, et al.) that meet the permission requirements of QAP
- Connecting the current Microsoft Access user interface to SQL Database
- Performing user acceptance testing of upgraded QAP
- Monitoring database performance and implementing necessary improvements
- Deploying QAP to headquarters elements, passport centers, and passport agencies
- Conducting facilitations, workshops, and co-creation sessions with stakeholders
- Facilitating working sessions and pre-briefings to leadership
- Drafting and/or reviewing documents and supporting materials
- Redesigning QAP front end using Low code no code
- Providing ongoing database support
- Creating database backup methodology to ensure data integrity, security, and availability

Required Experience and Skills:- 7+ Years of relevant experience
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (Azure SQL Database)
- Proficiency in MS Access
- Strong understanding of database design principles and best practices
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
- Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations
Desired Experience and Skills: - 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree in related field.
- Previous experience working in federal government agencies.
Education: - Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:- Database Management Certification (Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate)
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to remain stationary with a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
