Where you'll work: This is an onsite opportunity where you will report to the customer's location in Port Hueneme, CA. An average day: As Database Engineer II you will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high performance databases that support organizational objectives and enhance data availability. You will also collaborate with cross functional teams to optimize backend infrastructure and ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards. In this position you will: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable database solutions. Design, develop, and optimize database architectures to ensure high performance and reliability. Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery procedures, adhering to security guidelines. Monitor database performance metrics and perform advanced query tuning to address system bottlenecks. Enforce data security protocols, including encryption and user permissions, to meet compliance needs. Conduct capacity planning and recommend infrastructure adjustments to accommodate evolving data requirements. Work closely with application teams to integrate databases with new and existing systems. Support cloud based database environments while maintaining cybersecurity mandates. Provide data analytics and reporting, leveraging tools for query optimization and performance insights. Document all database modifications and operational procedures, following best practices for configuration management. Coordinate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and implement the latest patches. Participate in system upgrades and migrations, offering technical leadership and risk assessments. Automate database maintenance and monitoring tasks to streamline operations. Troubleshoot complex database related issues, escalating when needed to ensure timely resolution. Prepare technical documentation and status reports on database health and project progress. Basic Qualifications: As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions. An Associate's degree in a technical field; in lieu of a degree, an additional 3 years of hands on database engineering experience may be substituted. A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in database engineering, with emphasis on design, optimization, and maintenance of relational or cloud based databases. Hands on experience administering relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL). Proficiency in SQL scripting, performance tuning, and data modeling. Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity mandates and STIG compliance (if applicable). Ability to develop and maintain backup/recovery strategies aligned with operational requirements. Knowledge of cloud technologies and virtualization platforms for scalable database solutions. IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570 requirements (Security+ CE). Operating System certification relevant to the specific environment being supported. Experience implementing database security measures such as encryption and user privilege management. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address performance and availability challenges. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with cross functional teams. Other: Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance May be required to perform duties outside of standard hours of operation in order to support mission requirements, including planned and unplanned maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrades.
