Summary/Objective: The Senior Database Architect is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of database solutions, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and database architecture best practices. This role requires expertise in database design, MS Access database conversions to SQL Server, and a deep understanding of data management principles. The Senior Database Architect will ensure data integrity, availability, and security while supporting the organization's data needs.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and implement MS SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance and scalability
- Plan and execute the migration of existing MS Access databases to MS SQL Server, including data mapping, schema design, and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
- Develop database architecture strategies for system implementations, ensuring integration and data consistency.
- Conduct database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Establish and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and maintain data models, database schemas, and data dictionaries.
- Implement and manage database security measures, including user access control and data encryption.
- Perform database administration tasks, including backups, recovery, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide technical support to development teams.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and support business objectives.
- Assist with website and application migrations as they relate to database systems.
- Manage user access and develop APIs for data access.
Equipment/Systems:
This position requires frequent use of computers, database management tools, MS SQL Server, MS Access, data modeling tools, and other related software. Experience with Microsoft 365 Suite is essential.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: This job operates primarily in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time exempt position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, regular business hours; additional hours as needed to ensure performance across the program.
Travel: Minimal local travel may be required for training or office visits.
Required Education and Experience:RequirementsRequired Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a Database Developer or Architect with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with MS Access database conversions to SQL Server.
- Experience with database design, data modeling, and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of database security best practices and secure implementation standards.
- Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140 certification preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience: - Microsoft certifications related to SQL Server.
- Experience supporting government customers.
- Experience with multiple database platforms preferred (e.g., Oracle, MySQL).
- Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance: - Requires active Secret clearance from the U.S. Government
