We are seeking a skilled and reliable Database Administrator (DBA) with 6+ years of experience in managing and optimizing SQL Server and Azure SQL environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), PowerShell, and Azure DevOps, and will be responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, availability, and security of our critical database systems.
This role includes responsibility for backups, maintenance plans, disaster recovery, and high availability configurations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server and Azure SQL database environments to ensure high performance and availability.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery planning.
- Configure and support high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
- Automate routine tasks and maintenance using PowerShell scripting.
- Troubleshoot database issues related to performance, locking/blocking, deadlocks, and long-running queries.
- Optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations to improve application performance.
- Work with development teams to review and deploy schema changes, stored procedures, and data migration scripts.
- Use Azure DevOps for database version control, CI/CD automation, and deployment pipelines.
- Ensure database systems adhere to security policies, compliance requirements, and audit readiness.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct capacity planning and assist with infrastructure scaling as data and application needs grow.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator, focused on SQL Server and Azure SQL.
- Expertise with:
- SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
- PowerShell scripting for automation and maintenance
- Azure SQL Database and Azure Database services
- Performance tuning and optimization techniques
- High availability and disaster recovery strategies
- Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD of database changes
- Strong understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Must hold Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate or equivalent
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: - Experience with cloud migration projects or hybrid on-prem/cloud environments.
- Familiarity with database security principles and encryption at rest/in transit.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as SQL Monitor, Redgate, or SolarWinds DPA.
