Position - Database Administrator
Location: New York, NY- HYBRID
Duration of the Project: 6 MONTHS- possible extensions

The Client is in search of an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with solid experience supporting DB2 v10 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform. Primary responsibilities include working with application development teams to install and migrate releases, support execution of data fixes, define new and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs).

Primary Responsibilities:
  • The target systems are PMS and PPMS, the City's payroll and pension payroll applications.
  • Ensure that all installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases are completed efficiently
  • Author and validate procedures for all database processes
  • Identify potential issues and deliver modifications / updates for DB2 programs
  • Communicate with and deliver to Tech Support all elements to be migrated with specific instructions to be performed during the production migration
  • Assisting the Systems areas with tool upgrades and participating in Disaster Recovery drills.
Required Skills:
  • Experience with IBM IMS V12 database management or higher.
  • Ability to perform all database admin duties (backup/recovery, reorgs, DB trouble shooting).
  • Experience with CICS transaction server.
  • Ability to author REXX scripts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot assembler code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs
  • Ability to design solutions using Oracle Transparent Gateway
  • Ability to design, develop and implement BMC BPPM Monitoring software solution
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP server product running on AIX.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience working with application teams to build and maintain data propagation solutions - using "IBM lnfoSphere Replication Server ". Ability to install and manage DB2 on AIX platforms.
  • Deep experience supporting large scale, enterprise wide, financial and payroll applications built on the framework of off-the-shelf 3rd party solutions.
Education:

• Bachelors or Master's Degree in Computer Science or in a Technical/Business Discipline is required.
