Overview

The Database Administrator will manage Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB databases (on-premises, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure), ensure 24/7 database production support and perform daily operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee Oracle RMAN backups and recovery, DataPump backups and restores, Data Guard; Golden Date change data capture (CDC), log mining, advanced compression, partitioning
  • Responsible for SQL Server Database restores, clustering, replication and always-on
  • Manage all databases: cloning, creating new DBs, monitoring, performance tuning, shell scripting, logs checks
  • Application team support: provide support and guidance on best database practices, troubleshoot, implement database changes/new objects
  • Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure, functional capabilities and usage. Act as an escalation point for any project or issue related to databases
  • Responsible for database design and issues impacting database functionality, security, and availability, upgrades and migration projects
  • Advise management on the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve the functionality and efficiencies of the company databases
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent related technical field
  • Master's Degree a plus with a concentration in database management
  • 4+ years DBA experience with Oracle RAC on ODA and OCI
  • 2+ years DBA experience with SQL Server Databases on on-prem and Azure
  • 1+ years' experience working with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Oracle Certification is a plus
  • MS SQL Server certification is a plus

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude

• Strong working knowledge of Oracle RAC on ODA and OCI. Data Guard experience is a must

• Strong working knowledge of Linux OS command and Oracle command line tools like oadcli, srvctl, dgmgrl, lsnrctl, rman, expdp, impdp. Shell scripting is a must

• Experience with Oracle Golden Gate Change Data Capture

• Experience with Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Availability Groups experience is a must. PowerShell scripting is a plus

• In-depth understanding of PL/SQL, dblinks, synonyms, grants, indexes, etc

• Ability to prioritize workload and work effectively under pressure

• Ability to interface and collaborate with developers, peers and management to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions

• Ability to fully document technical specifications and related project or systems-level documentation
