We are seeking a DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, administration, security, performance, and recoverability of the company's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), related data marts, Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, and related systems. This role also involves providing SQL support for operational databases and making recommendations for continual improvement of database operations. Responsibilities:
Ensure the overall performance, reliability, and security of data, databases, and related systems. Ensure databases and processes are performing at optimum levels and that all data, databases, and related systems are recoverable.
Perform preventative maintenance measures. Regularly monitor database and ETL operations to ensure successful completion. Provide after-hour support and troubleshooting activities for all databases and ETL processes as needed to ensure 24/7 system availability.
Perform system and server administrative duties, including software installations, upgrades, configuration, and migrations.
Implement data strategy to secure, restore, and archive databases while remaining compliant with the company's information security policies.
Lead and manage technical projects of moderate complexity.
Develop, administer, and maintain the EDW, data marts, application interfaces, data virtualization layers, reports, dashboards, data extracts, and ETL platforms.
Ensure appropriate controls over the EDW to maintain a highly controlled and auditable environment.
Execute appropriate testing and validation activities for all platforms. Document test results and ensure that all open issues are resolved.
Create and maintain design documents, application overview documents, data flow diagrams, procedures, standards, and other technical documents.
Install and configure MS SQL servers for standalone and failover cluster environments.
Manage Dell Compellant storage across databases; create volumes, monitor space, and provide capacity planning based on database growth.
Administer Denodo Data Virtualization tool, including designing databases and creating base views to deploy across environments. Troubleshoot issues and support business access to views.
Develop T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, triggers, and indices.
Create and maintain MS SQL Agent jobs, alerts, and security for all SQL server instances.
Assist with production incidents and resolutions, including root cause analysis and recommendations.
Develop PowerShell scripts.
Support developers with tuning SQL queries, debugging, and troubleshooting.
Foster a positive, learning, and collaborative team environment. Proactively document and cross-train teammates to promote knowledge transfer and ensure adequate coverage.
Qualifications:
Proficiency with database design, security, backup, recovery, tuning, and troubleshooting.
If primarily experienced with Oracle, must have some experience with SQL Server.
Thorough understanding of security concepts including authentication, authorization, Active Directory, Kerberos, and SQL Server auditing and logging.
Experience with network and systems administration, including SAN technologies, Hyper-V, Windows Server OS, and hardware such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
Demonstrated experience with business continuity, including backups, high-availability, continuous availability, and disaster recovery.
Knowledgeable in cryptography, such as PKI, SSL, SQL Server TDE, and key management.
Ability to manage projects of moderate complexity.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts.
Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet project deadlines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Readiness to leverage new technologies without formal training.
Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision; takes initiative when identifying a need or issue.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
