TITLE: Database Administrator

Position Summary As a Database Administrator you will be responsible for the database design, security, database availability, backups, performance monitoring and tuning of Smart Start's database environment. As a member of the IT Infrastructure team, you will work with other IT teams and external vendors to ensure database integrity and compliance with established standards and regulations.

The primary functions of the position will be as follows:- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Analyze and assess architecture and database schemas.
- Coordinate knowledge transfer from our third-party vendor DBA.
- Manage security patching for both Windows Server and SQL Server.
- Prepare a comprehensive plan to align security and encryption of stored PII data with current and future contracts, as well as ISO27001 requirements.
- Work with the ISMS and ISO27001 committee to assess and identify risks, and create and implement plan to mitigate any risks that are not accepted by the committee.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Perform installations and upgrades to ensure security and compliance standards are met.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
Position Requirements - Expert knowledge Database Administration.
- General knowledge with IT Infrastructure systems and processes.
- 7+ years Database Administration.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL databases.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Availability Groups.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows server and client OS.
- Candidates must be able to work varying hours and travel when required (less than 5%).
- Must be able to document project and task work and provide documented updates.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills within a technical environment.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to positively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Must have the ability to lift IT equipment up to 50 lbs.
