Akkodis is seeking a Database Administrator for a Contract job with a client in Dearborn, MI. "The ideal candidate should have experience with at least one large-scale migration project from SQL Server to PostgreSQL."


Rate Range: $58/hour to $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Database Administrator Job responsibilities include:

  • Lead the migration of SQL Server databases-including tables, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, and data-to PostgreSQL hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Leverage deep expertise in both SQL Server and PostgreSQL to address compatibility and performance challenges during migration.
  • Provide ongoing SQL development support post-migration, including maintaining unique identifiers (IDs), performing data analysis, and generating reports.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to ensure smooth database integration, deployment, and monitoring using CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Flyway.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 8+ years of combined experience working with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Proficient in using Jenkins jobs and Flyway for executing and managing database queries.
  • Strong troubleshooting and query optimization skills.
  • Experience with Elastic Stack (ELK) is a plus.
