What Will You Do

We are looking for a Mid-Level Database Administrator (Oracle/SQL Server) to join our team in supporting critical projects and applications within the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have experience managing both Oracle and SQL Server databases, along with a solid understanding of database performance tuning, backup/recovery, patching/upgrading, and database security. The role will have a focus on implementing automation processes to enhance the efficiency of our database management practices.   • Database Management: Manage, maintain, and optimize Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Patching & Upgrades: Perform regular database patching and updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct database performance reviews and provide suggestions for query optimizations.
  • Automation: Develop and implement automation solutions to streamline database management tasks.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor database health and performance metrics, responding proactively to any issues.
  • Backup & Recovery: Perform regular backup and recovery operations to safeguard data integrity. Implement disaster recovery plans and ensure data availability in case of system failures.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to application development staff as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, IT staff, and other stakeholders to support database-related needs and projects.
  • Preferred Tools: Experience with SolarWinds DPA and the IDERA Suite preferred.
What Will You Need
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 2-4 years required. 3-8 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Oracle and/or SQL Server preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of database patching, security protocols, and performance tuning.
    • Experience with database upgrade processes and migrations.
    • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL for Oracle, and T-SQL for SQL Server.
    • Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible) and scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell) to enhance database operations.
    • Experience developing and managing SSIS packages for data integration.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Salary Range: $69,502 - $104,254

The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee's work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
