Database Administrator II

Job Summary:

We are in search of a BI Developer/Database Administrator to design and develop business intelligence database solutions supporting Tableau and Power BI analytics dashboards and reports. The individual will be responsible for understanding business requirements, writing functional specifications, prototyping, development, quality testing, user acceptance testing, roll-out, and post-launch enhancements. As a Database Administrator, you will manage and maintain SQL server databases, monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs, manage access roles, and support server management and patches.

Key Responsibilities:

†Partner closely with upstream application teams and developers to ensure data sources are accurate, available, and timely.

†Efficiently develop complex SQL queries (stored procedures, views, and functions).

†Collaborate with business intelligence developers and analysts to test, clean, and standardize data to meet business requirements.

†Document database structures, configurations, and procedures to maintain a well-managed database environment.

†Design new database structures, including tables, relationships, and data integrity constraints, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency (including normalization/denormalization).

†Proactively monitor server, database, and query performance.

†Fine-tune query, database, and server performance as needed.

†Ensure access is provisioned through database roles and address non-compliant instances.

†Perform regular database backups and manage retention according to policy.

†Monitor agent jobs and troubleshoot when issues arise.

†Monitor SSIS package runs and troubleshoot issues in SSIS/SQL.

†Conduct periodic audits of access to ensure proper user permissions.

†Collaborate cross-functionally with business stakeholders and technical partners to meet business requirements.

†Maintain excellent verbal communication and documentation skills for workflows and query functionality.

†Adhere to Agile SCRUM methodology and processes.

Required Qualifications:

†Leverage SQL and SSIS for interacting with SQL server data models, including data connectors, dimensional modeling, and query writing.

†Experience working with large and complex data sets and writing complex queries (stored procedures, views, and functions).

†Strong understanding of BI analytics, data blending, data warehousing, and data ELT.

†Experience in documenting, researching, and solving problems through a service help desk ticketing system.

†Experience gathering and validating functional requirements with business analysts or sponsors and providing design specifications.

†SQL server administration experience, including management, monitoring, and performance tuning.

†Experience managing OLAP and OLTP databases.

†Expertise in creating, managing, and troubleshooting agent jobs.

†Experience with SSIS: creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting packages.

†Ability to query system and user databases, analyze query plans, and implement performance optimizations (schema, query, and index optimizations).

†Ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.

†4-year degree in MIS, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

†Minimum of 5 years†experience as a BI SQL Developer and/or Database Administrator.
