Database Administrator / Engineer

Job Description:

We Are Seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support critical database migration and management initiatives. The ideal candidate will lead the transition from Informix to PostgreSQL hosted on AWS cloud services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. This role involves ongoing database maintenance, administration, and support while training internal teams for long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive database migration strategy from Informix to a modern database system.

• Assess current database structures, data volumes, and system integrations.

• Design and manage database schemas to meet functional and performance requirements.

• Lead data migration, including cleansing, scripting, validation, and post-migration testing.

• Ensure seamless integration with enterprise applications and optimize system performance.

• Maintain, support, and troubleshoot databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.

• Enforce best practices for database management, security, and disaster recovery.

• Document database migration processes, maintenance procedures, and system specifications.

• Assist in database development based on business and technical requirements.

• Support application developers with complex queries, data modeling, and performance tuning.

• Manage automated database reporting, validation processes, and security mechanisms.

• Coordinate with system administrators on database installations, upgrades, and architecture changes.

• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and ongoing enhancements.

• Perform work as needed during and outside business hours.

Required Skills:

• Proven experience as a Database Engineer or Administrator with hands-on data migration expertise.

• Strong knowledge of SQL databases, database design, and system documentation.

• Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS.

• Understanding of database security, integrity, and best practices.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
