Job Description:
They are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Architect to join their Business Solutions Group. This is a pioneering role that will report directly to the Director of Software Engineering. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable data warehouse solution that consolidates data from a variety of software applications. This data warehouse will empower their business users to perform ad hoc analyses independently and support their software engineering team in developing data-driven applications.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Engage with business leaders to identify key business problems and data requirements.
- Data Warehouse Design: Architect a robust data warehouse that integrates data from disparate databases, such as IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, and other applications.
- Data Labeling and Metadata Management: Develop a consistent labeling system and metadata repository to ensure clear and unequivocal data communication across the organization.
- ETL Processes and Data Integration: Oversee the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data, ensuring temporal alignment and data integrity.
- Data Modeling: Create logical and physical data models, including the development of data cubes for efficient querying and analysis.
- Data Governance: Implement data quality standards and governance policies to maintain the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Support Business Intelligence: Enable self-service BI by integrating tools that allow business users to perform ad hoc analyses without IT intervention.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with IT professionals, software engineers, business analysts, project managers, EDI specialists, and instructional designers within the Business Solutions Group.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and best practices for data warehousing and analytics to the broader technology team.
EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of experience in data warehousing, data architecture, and data modeling.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data warehouses.
- Experience with ETL tools and processes.
- Familiarity with IBM iSeries systems, DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience integrating data from heterogeneous systems.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Proficiency in data modeling techniques (both logical and physical).
- Strong understanding of metadata management and data labeling.
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Cognos).
- Understanding of temporal data alignment and time-series data management.
SOFT SKILLS:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Industry Experience: Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of the RPG programming language is helpful but not required. Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics). Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in data management or data warehousing.
