Role: Jr. Data Scientist
Location: Springfield, VA
Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph Job Description: As a Data Scientist, you will support the Chief Engineer in building and maintaining data storage architecture, including schema development, formatting, indexing, accessing, retrieving, and ensuring data integrity. You will work as part of a team of data engineers, database developers, and visualization specialists to analyze large sets of structured data and look for anomalies and undiscovered correlations. Key Responsibilities: Data Analysis and Troubleshooting: Perform deep dive analysis into data sets and reports to identify problems or suspected issues with data. Use analytical methodologies to diagnose data-related challenges, implement solutions, and evaluate performance. Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including data engineers and developers, to analyze large datasets and provide solutions that align with national security objectives. Collaborate with software engineering teams to deploy models that offer ongoing forecasts, optimizations, and insights. Data Management and Transformation:
Strong knowledge and experience with data management, transformation, visualization, analysis, and organization techniques. Ability to manipulate data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources. Testing and Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance data quality and speed of delivery. Develop complex data processes that span multiple organizations and disciplines.
Automation and Analytics:
Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis. Use scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, and verbal narrative products that enable informed decision-making.
Metadata Management:
Categorize data and metadata to build the metadata application profile. Qualifications:
Experience: Must have experience as a data scientist working with imagery data. Experience writing code in Python, R, Scala, JavaScript, or C , with a focus on documentation for reproducibility. Strong knowledge of visual programming or object-oriented modeling workflows to automate data acquisition. Data Skills: Ability to manipulate and work with data from multiple structured and unstructured sources. Experience with analytical methodologies to diagnose challenges, implement solutions, and evaluate performance. Tool Knowledge: Experience with tools such as Apache Hadoop, HUE, Hive, Pig, Spark, Elasticsearch, Kibana, or Tableau. Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1-3 years of experience. Certifications: Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Agile methodologies, automation frameworks, and technologies like AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, GIS, and more.
