(Multiple Positions) The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Co. seeks Sr. Data Scientists for its Hartford, CT location. Applicants interested in this role must apply through and reference job code: HYCZ.

Duties: Analyze various data sources leveraging data science techniques and business knowledge. Apply necessary data processing and address issues such as missing data, outliers, and inconsistencies, etc. Design and implement various model workflows for in-depth data analysis, such as statistical/ML models for insurance loss cost or state-of-the-arts LLMs for text and/or multimodal data in the insurance business. Perform ad-hoc statistical analyses to address immediate business needs. Create reports and presentation decks with visualizations of data and models for effective progress and results communication. Develop production-level code using Git for version control to deploy models on production platforms e.g. MLOps. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business problems into actionable analytics solutions. Work with cross-functional teams such as data engineering, business units, and IT department for model implementation and deployment. Manage a portfolio of technical projects and take responsibility for methodological decisions. Mentor and assist junior data scientists within the team.

Requirements: Master's degree in Data Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science or a closely related field plus 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Computer Scientist or Actuarial Analyst or closely related role. Will accept PhD in same fields plus 1 year experience in same roles. Candidates' prior work experience must include using the following: Azure Cloud Computing Platform; Databricks; Deep learning and large language model (LLM) knowledge; Insurance domain knowledge including actuarial science; Knowledge of claim lifecycle; Knowledge of reinsurance and primary insurance products including both commercial and personal lines; Statistical and machine learning knowledge; Project management; MLOps; and Azure DevOps. May telecommute but must have ability to report to the Hartford, CT office two (2) times per week.
