The Investigator Initiated Research program is looking for a kind, curious, and dedicated person to join our team to help drive innovations and advance medical discoveries. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Data Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will help manage a diverse portfolio of data resources to support research program needs. You will create reports, collaborate with stakeholders, and help translate complex data into actionable insights. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to develop analytical skills and gain hands-on experience working in healthcare research. You'll assist in data management, analysis, and reporting to help better understand performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with clinical investigators to design new and maintain existing research registries
  2. Perform basic data analysis to help answer research questions
  3. Develop and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and reporting tools
  4. Ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout reporting processes
  5. Maintain data accuracy and ensure consistency across reporting outputs
  6. Support ongoing research projects and contribute to team goals
  7. Help improve and advance the enterprise data strategy to ensure quality and integrity of data resources

Qualifications

Desired Education and Experience:
  • Master's (preferred) in Public Health, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
  • Experience (2+ years) as a Data Analyst or similar role
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R)
  • Strong knowledge and hands on-experience of data processing as well as developing visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, shiny)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in statistical analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Must have strong verbal and written English
Relationships:

This position reports to the Sr. Program Director, IIR and Data Science. In this role you will be working closely with clinical investigators, research scholars, the IIR team and informatics experts. You will also actively support research efforts during the annual summer internship program.

Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform the Job:

In this position, you must be able to:
  • Work at a computer for long periods of time
  • Walk between hospital, clinic, Allina Lab and office as needed
  • Work during non-traditional working hours (evenings and weekends) on occasion
Total Rewards:

The compensation range for this role takes into consideration a variety of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are determined on the facts and circumstances of each case. The current range is $55,000 to $85,000 DOQ.

In addition to salary, MHIF also offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees working 20 hours per week or more including medical, dental, life, and short- and long-term disability insurance, employer contributions toward a health savings account (if applicable), 401(k) with employer match and contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, and 10 paid holidays annually.
