Our client, global leader in technology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist & Analyst to join their Growth and Data Science team. This role is crucial for providing actionable insights across our product portfolio, which includes Azure PaaS services and developer tools such as Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot.

Job Title: Data Scientist 4

Location: Redmond, WA - 100% Remote

Pay Range: $55/Hr - $60/Hr on W2

Responsibilities:
  • Drive portfolio and product growth by aggregating and analyzing financial data, product usage data, and customer data.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize data insights that are accessible to all levels of our organization.
  • Develop canonical resources for product leadership to make decisions.
  • Create and maintain metrics related to financial data, customer acquisition, engagement, and churn or retention.
  • Apply statistical techniques to develop insights from data and lead root-cause investigations to understand anomalies.
  • Write queries and procedures in Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) and SQL.
  • Utilize git for version control. Utilize data engineering tools and platforms to develop data pipelines.
  • Deeply understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through presentations and reports.
  • Uphold all standards and policies for safeguarding and sharing sensitive data, to include financial and personally-identifiable information (PII) data.
  • Elevate and scale our data science function and impact through best practices, processes, and community.
Typical Day in the Role

• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is supporting data science in the developer division team focusing on growth and data science for web based services. The team partners with product groups on reviewing data for products used by more than 50 million users a month. The team utilizes development tools like CLI and interface tools to deploy web based services utilizing the cloud.

• Key projects: This role will contribute to supporting the team on synergizing the development experience, both the inner loop of developers building apps using their tools, and outer loop of fitting those apps and tools into repositories, utilizing azure DevOps and github to work together before deploying to the cloud. The team is also focusing on figuring out how devs are building AI and LLM tools, and making it easier for developers to bring AI and LLM into their apps (such as a dev team building an internal chatbot to help support team or a customer facing website)

• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of supporting the team with the above, helping different product teams that have their own data sources and pulling data sources together, and figuring out the customer journey using data sources. The role will focus on getting access to data sources, have conversations with product managers to understand nuances of data, go through products themselves to understand customer experience and understand how their data shows up, then pull those data sources and financial data together.

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Fluency in SQL and Power BI. Experience with git for version control.
  • Humility, scrappiness, and demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams across organizational boundaries, delivering insights and impact fast amid ambiguity, change, and resource constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal across audiences
  • Strong creative and pragmatic problem-solving skills, along with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a Data Scientist at companies related to cloud platforms, SaaS products, and/or developer tools.
  • Experience doing analysis in Python and R.
  • Experience with Azure Data Explorer (Kusto)
  • Familiarity with Azure PaaS services and developer tools.
  • Knowledge of customer acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies
