JOB SUMMARY The Data Scientist 1 serves as initial intake contact and works closely with key business stakeholders to develop use cases related to difficult to solve and complex business challenges. The Data Scientist 1creates machine learning models used to identify key data features that will enable the models to derive insights that are predictive in nature and enable stakeholders to be glean insights that enable action to improve business outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE - Measures and delivers tangible insights and value to improve health system outcomes (improved customer experience, acute clinical, quality, safety, etc.) by leveraging data science and engineering methodologies.
- Designs machine learning systems using programming skills, which involves assessing and organizing large datasets, executing tests/experiments to automate predictive models.
- Partners closely with Data Scientist 2, business and IT stakeholders to thoroughly know current business processes and requirements.
- Establishes the appropriate data technique and create the model to generate the insight required as defined by the requirements of the use case, in some cases.
- Iterates and improves the predictability, explain-ability of models. Ensures analytics techniques used are scalable and efficient.
- Partners with the Product Owner(s) and Data Engineer(s) to ensure that the appropriate data is provided to the model.
- Helps with designing and building infrastructure to help analytics and experimentation.
- Builds and maintains a robust library of data science solutions, reusable templates, algorithms and helping code.
- Performs other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous way.

- 3+ years of hands-on data scientist mathematical predictive modeling experience in a business environment or equivalent.
- Proficiency in common language / tools for AI/ML - (e.g. Python/Pyspark, Keras, Tensorflow libraries, etc.).
- Experience working in a cloud environment such as Azure, and their ML services.
- Great social skills, such as great communication and partnership, due to the high-level interaction with other analytics and intelligence teams, as well as cross functional teams.
- Familiarity with algorithms associated advanced analytic topics, including binary classification algorithms, regression algorithms, Neural Network frameworks, and Natural Language Processing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software engineering topics, including classes, functions, version control, CI/CD, and unit tests.
- Technical expertise with many compute environments.
- Experience working in EDW cloud technologies - Snowflake.
- Proven experience in working with large datasets and relational databases (SQL).
