What you'll be doing The Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) organization securely enables the business by protecting assets and information across Verizon networks, infrastructure and applications. CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon, and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services.

The Data Protection Services team provides enterprise-wide data protection capabilities, including tokenization and encryption, that underpin all of Verizon's financial processes, from Point-of-Sale systems in Verizon stores, to payment processing in mobile apps, to bill payments, accounts receivable/payable and employee paycheck processing. The team supports data protection as at acquisition, at rest, in transit and in use, by supplying highly available and scalable technical services and partnering with stakeholder groups on broad data protection governance activities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Administering, operating, and configuring the tokenization/encryption infrastructure and data protection services.
  • Driving continuous improvement and process design for enterprise-critical tokenization and encryption services.
  • Implementing site reliability best practices, including improved instrumentation, increased automation, and effective incident response.
  • Managing and maintaining data protection technologies, including delegated/distributed capabilities, to enhance sensitive data protection.
  • Championing Data Encryption & Protection (DEP) principles and requirements.
  • Collaborating with users and stakeholders to define system requirements and modifications, ensuring alignment with data protection standards and policies.
  • Consulting with vendor, infrastructure, and development teams to implement sound data protection practices and support customer data protection requirements.
  • Utilizing advanced knowledge of security operations, cybersecurity tools, intrusion detection, and secured networks to resolve configuration, programming, and reporting issues.
  • Reporting project accomplishments to stakeholders and providing guidance on leveraging data for business results.
  • Providing on-call support for tokenization and other platforms on a rotating schedule.
What we're looking for You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience in Information Security, Data Governance, Data Protection Technologies and Techniques
  • Experience in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and integration with existing systems and workflows.
  • Experience in application development, operations and support.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Strong analytical skills for identifying patterns in cybersecurity data, developing and implementing security processes, and creating comprehensive documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity policies, standards, and industry best practices, with the ability to train and mentor others.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and challenging situations.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to foster successful partnerships.
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations to peers or senior executives.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and drive improvements to data ingestion platforms and processes.
  • Master's Degree in information security, cyber security, computer science or a related field.
  • Certifications in one or more of the following: CISSP, CIPP, CIMP, CEH, GCIH, GPEN, CCSK, Security+
  • 6+ years of combined experience in IT, application development and support, and Cybersecurity.
  • Cloud Infrastructure and Security Experience.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of Data Protection platforms such as OpenText SecureData, Protegrity, Privacera.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of synthetic data generation tools, such as K2View.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of Key Management Systems (KMS).
