Advantage Tech is looking for a Data Operations IT Manager for our Kansas City Client.
The Data Operations teams maintain stability and security of our application and analytics data, along with securing and administering tools for MDM, governance, retention, ETL/ELT, encryption, and masking, combined with maintaining or advising on the audit strength of each. The teams provide administration and availability around the clock in support of numerous products ranging from on-premises applications with traditional datastores, all the way to serverless technology utilizing infrastructure as code for analytics and reporting.

As the IT Manager, you will be the custodian of all data sources managed/maintained for the CTO and the infrastructure department, regardless of physical location. This includes ensuring data and data tools are available to the level required by lines of business, executive management, or other future requirements. You will lead multiple teams which oversee the daily operations and administration of operational datastores, MDM, data governance, API/data transfer, analytics/reporting. You will understand and keep current encryption and/or masking software or ideology, AWS virtual environments, database software stacks, service accounts, certificates, and any documentation related thereto. You will be ensuring team compliance with SLAs, software product support requirements across all data products, change management, vulnerability management and all other policy. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership.

How you'll spend your time:
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the teams requiring incumbent to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Managing the development of individual team members by providing coaching through listening and timely feedback.
  • Setting challenging yet attainable goals for team members and managing their performance. This includes requesting, steering, managing, and monitoring the team members' work efforts and keeping skillsets current.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for areas of responsibility to realize SLAs and uptime requirements.
  • Participating in the budget process and maintaining a budgetary awareness.
  • Understanding the risk and impact to the business while recommending risk mitigation strategies and options to be considered.
  • Maintaining audit strength at all times to remain prepared for both internal and external audit authorities, including consulting with teams building/maintaining self-managed data stores.

  • You have a college degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and at least 3 years of technical work experience OR a combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in management, supervisory, or team lead capacity leading teams supporting database systems on premise and cloud-based including:
  • Informatica Cloud
  • Snowflake including masking practices and data sharing
  • Postgres/Dynamo/Azure/AWS cloud offerings including hybrid alternatives and vulnerability management techniques
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Mainframe with DB2
  • Encryption software
  • Power BI Fabric
  • Windows Server and UNIX operating systems
  • You have knowledge of Informatica, Power BI, MDM, ETL products and a general understanding of AWS VPC environments to include operating systems and serverless technology.
  • You have knowledge of information security best practices, CIS benchmarks, and vulnerability management.
  • You have experience working in an environment that follows strict change management.
    Bonus Points If:
  • You have experience within the banking and/or financial services industry.
