Roles & Responsibilities
Engage with IT Stakeholders:
Work closely with IT stakeholders to understand the requirement/business process and understand the business value proposition for proposed data modeling efforts.
Support project team in Physical Data Model (PDM) and incorporate system-specific details:
Adapt the logical data model into a physical data model by adding database-specific details like data types, indexes, and constraints, tailored to the target database platform.
Implement Data Modeling - including naming conventions, documentation, version control, and validation techniques, to ensure models are accurate and maintainable.
Socialize the Data Model with Business and Project IT Teams:
Communicate and share the data models with business users and project teams through presentations, workshops, and documentation, ensuring widespread understanding and acceptance.
Develop Robust Logical and Physical Data Models:
Create comprehensive logical and physical data models that accurately reflect the application's functional requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity.
Align Data Models with Business Requirements and Application Architecture:
Ensure data structures support current and future business processes by translating business rules and requirements into normalized logical models and optimized physical schemas.
Support Application Development Lifecycle:
Provide data modeling deliverables that directly support development activities, including schema generation, integration planning, and testing support, ensuring alignment with agile and DevOps practices.
Promote Data Consistency and Standardization:
Enforce enterprise data modeling guidance, naming conventions, and metadata management practices throughout the modeling process to support governance and interoperability.
