Data Management Analyst
Division of Management Information (DMI)
The Division of Management Information (DMI) is accepting applications for a Data Management Analyst. This position manages administrative databases at DMI. In addition, the position collects, analyzes, and reports data from the university's administrative databases. The Data Management Analyst interacts with internal and external constituents and represents the office on university committees as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with other staff to design, develop, implement and maintain databases, applications, data collection and reporting techniques to meet changing information needs.
• Provide planning, training and support for the integration of data and information management activities.
• Provide input for developing and improving systems and procedures.
• Provide reports and analysis for management decision making.
• Use appropriate applications and data to assist administrators, faculty, and staff in obtaining timely, accurate, and relevant information.
• Assist users in the appropriate and secure use of data provided and/or maintained by DMI.
• Extract data from DMI sources and other university administrative databases to create reports for responding to data requests.
• Verify data accuracy; initiate and resolve data quality issues.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on all projects, processes, and reports.
• Develop a thorough familiarity with campus and university data sources and understand the appropriate use of each.
• Maintain an understanding of reporting requirements.
• Understand the legal and regulatory environment controlling the use and dissemination of campus data, including highly confidential information.
• Represent DMI on university committees as needed.
Position Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
• Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries.
• Demonstrated experience with database administration (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft).
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL server.
• Demonstrated experience using MS Office suite (e.g., Excel).
Preferred
• Bachelor's degree.
• Demonstrated experience with SSIS or Visual Studio IDE.
• Relevant experience in higher education (e.g., database administration, data analysis, data visualization, programming).
• Demonstrated experience communicating technical ideas to non-technical professionals.
• Experience with web application development.
• Experience with Denodo.
• Experience with SAS, R, SharePoint, Active Directory, XML, HTML, ASP, and/or ASP.NET.
• Experience with interactive data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI and Excel, including Slicers and Pivot Tables.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Attentive to detail, organized, and flexible in an environment of multiple projects and continually shifting deadlines.
• Ability to complete projects independently and work as a part of a team on projects.
• Strong verbal, writing and problem-solving skills.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The salary for this position is $70,000- $85,000. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
