On behalf of our client, a $3B North American IT consulting services company, we are seeking a Data Governance Specialist. This position is based in Columbus, OH. No travel. Compensation range is $110,000 to $120,000.


You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust data governance frameworks, including the creation of data dictionaries, glossaries, catalogs, and lineage mapping. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and accessibility of data assets, working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders to align data management with strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, business glossaries, data catalogs, and data lineage documentation.
  • Execute and support data cleansing initiatives to improve data quality across systems.
  • Translate complex business data requirements into structured data standards, policies, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and enforce data governance policies.
  • Support the development and execution of enterprise-wide data strategies.
  • Conduct data analysis and generate reports using Excel and custom queries.
  • Utilize Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, and Dynamics 365 (D365) to manage metadata, track lineage, and support governance processes.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining data dictionaries, glossaries, catalogs, and lineage documentation.
  • Strong background in data cleansing and working with large datasets.
  • Exceptional ability to translate business needs into structured data management practices.
  • Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization tools.
  • Experience running data queries and performing advanced data analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Purview, D365, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience contributing to or building enterprise data strategies is a strong plus.
