Role Overview & Responsibilities Reporting to the VP of IT, the Data Engineer is responsible for turning data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions. They conduct full life-cycle activities including performing requirements analysis and design, developing analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.
- Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databased/data systems.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Filter and clean data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
- Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
- Utilize technical expertise regarding data models, data design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Help to build data warehouses for reporting needs.
- Supervise ETL processes from transactional databases to reporting databases.
- Build reports and visualizations for executives and users to run their respective business units.
What you'll need - 5+ years of Data Analyst experience.
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL, etc.), and programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks).Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SAS, R, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
- Valid driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree in a related filed.
