Data Engineer I

Zurich is currently looking for a Data Engineer to work out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.
This position will be part of an Enterprise Data Management Team that will be responsible for leveraging the value of the data assets throughout the organization and will facilitate the development/implementation of the desired end-state data environment. The Enterprise Data Management Team will also be responsible for improving the organization's decision-making capabilities by providing high quality, transparent data within the data warehouse and associated data marts.
The talented Data Engineer/ETL Developer will have experience working with very large data sets, designing, developing and debugging Informatica processes that populate Data warehouses on (MPP) platforms. The ETL Developer will also have good knowledge of Big Data technologies and cloud native data tools with the ability to share ideas among a collaborative team.
In this role, she/he will participate on core teams identifying and validating data scenarios within the Enterprise. The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to develop actionable plans, recognize opportunities and be able to report out on on-going progress. This role will require technical documentation abilities and team coordination skills.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 4 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 4 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
AND
• 3 or more years of experience in Data Management
• Experience with ETL Architecture, ETL Design and End-to-End ETL Development work
• Experience in scripting languages
• Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools
• Experience in data analysis, data interrogation or data profiling
• Strong understanding of data warehousing including data structures/modeling concepts
Skillset Needs:
• Experience with Informatica PowerCenter
• Experience with processing large datasets on MPP platforms like Yellowbrick, Netezza
• Strong SQL and stored procedures skills
• Experience in scripting languages including Shell and Perl
• Experience in job scheduling tools like AutoSys
• Exposure to reporting tools preferably Business Objects, Power BI
• Exposure to Azure Cloud Platform and Cloud Data Services like Azure Data Factory, Databricks
• Exposure to cloud monitoring tools like Splunk, Grafana
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and interact effectively with business as part of a team
• Exposure to Insurance Domain knowledge

The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is 85,500-140,000, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
