Data Center Technician

Primary Skills: Infrastructure Installation (Expert), UPS Maintenance (Advanced), Campus Wiring (Intermediate), Vendor Coordination (Intermediate), Patch Management (Expert) Contract Type: W2 Duration: 3 Months Location: Vernon Hills, IL 60061 ( - Onsite 5 Days a week) Pay Range: $35 -$38 per hour Shift: Mon-Fri 8-5, Saturday and Sunday work as needed Job Summary: This role requires an individual to be onsite 5 days a week in Vernon Hills, with flexibility around the typical 8-5 business hours including occasional weekend work and possible travel. The Data Center Technician will play a critical role in installing and maintaining IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of data center, MDF, and IDF equipment. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized problem solver with a strong analytical aptitude and a minimum of 3 years' experience in IT Data Center environments. Key Responsibilities: Install and maintain switches, servers, and related IT products. Support and maintain UPS and Rack Power Systems reliably. Execute the installation and maintenance of campus wiring efficiently. Coordinate successfully with vendors to ensure system maintenance. Ensure supported hardware and software are up to date with necessary patches. Must-Have Skills: Experienced in independently running and terminating both copper and fiber cables within Data Centers. Proficient in Asset and Infrastructure Change Management processes. Skilled in participating in Audit and Compliance activities, including asset tagging, labeling, and tracking. Domain/Industry Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of direct experience in IT Data Center positions, including practical experience with data center infrastructure management and compliance activities.
