Job Summary

The University of Utah is seeking a Data Center Technician to join the Infrastructure and Operations Team responsible for data center and IT spaces accross multiple locations.

As part of a technically diverse team, this position will be part of mission critical service delivery to the institution and outside customers.

Responsibilities

  1. Will work in a high security facility, housing sensitive data, providing mission critical services and support life safety operations.
  2. Answer customer phone calls and emails in a professional manner.
  3. Recieve and perform on work orders to install computer, network and server hardware.
  4. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds when required, and properly use assitive devices such as lifts and forklift to move larger items.
  5. Monitor and help troubleshoot technical issues with data center infrastructure.
  6. Contact on-call staff or data center engineers when escalation is appropriate.
  7. Perform facility walkthroughs, administration of security at reception.
  8. Hold all tenants to security procedures.
  9. Operate a company vehicle to perform tasks at multiple locations.
  10. Not eligible for any remote work.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and four years experience in electronic and/or pneumatic control systems.

Preferences

Previous data center experience.

Familiarity with cooling systems.

Some familiarity with ethernet, fiber optic and copper cabling.

Customer service.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
